New Delhi ( Atulya Loktantra ) A high-level delegation of the Rashtriya Patrakar Mahasangha (RPM) held crucial meetings today in New Delhi with the Chairperson of the Press Council of India (PCI) Justice Ranjana desai , Director General of the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) Madam Kanchan prasad and the Press Registrar General of India (PRGI) Yogesh Baweja
The delegation discussed in detail the challenges faced by journalists and small–medium newspapers across the country.
Led by National President Dr. Pabitra Mohan Samantaray, the courtesy meetings focused on the pressing issues confronting the “guardians of democracy”—the journalists. The federation urged the Central Government to establish an effective national mechanism to ensure the safety, dignity, and economic stability of journalists, along with much-needed policy reforms in the media sector.
In the meeting with PRGI, the delegation raised key concerns related to the registration and renewal of newspapers and magazines, advertisement policy, and various administrative hurdles faced particularly by small and medium publications. The federation called for prompt and practical solutions to these long-standing issues.
The delegation included National Convenor Mahtab Khan Chand, Delhi State President Virendra Kumar Saini, Dheeraj Kumar, National Treasurer, K.D. Mishra, S.K. Tahir Ahmed, Programme Convenor Priyavrat Nayak, Convenor Umakant Pandey, and other office-bearers.
National President Dr. Samantaray emphasized that journalists are the soul of democracy, and safeguarding their rights and strengthening media institutions is a collective responsibility of both the government and society. The federation expressed hope that the concerned authorities will take positive and timely action on the issues presented.
